John Wayne Gacy March 17, — May 10, was an American serial killer and sex offender known as the Killer Clown who assaulted and murdered at least 33 young men and boys. Gacy regularly performed at children's hospitals and charitable events as "Pogo the Clown" or "Patches the Clown", personas he had devised. He was also active in his local community as a Democratic Party precinct captain and building contractor. According to Gacy, all of his murders were committed inside his ranch house near Norridge , a village in Norwood Park Township , metropolitan Chicago , Illinois.

Marion Robert Morrison  [a] May 26, — June 11, , known professionally as John Wayne and nicknamed Duke , was an American actor and filmmaker who became a popular icon through his starring roles in Western films. His career spanned from the silent era of the s, through the Golden Age of Hollywood and eventually American New Wave , appearing in a total of film and television productions. He was among the top box office draws for three decades,   and appeared with many other important Hollywood stars of his era. Wayne was born in Winterset, Iowa , but grew up in Southern California. He lost a football scholarship to the University of Southern California as a result of a bodysurfing accident,  and began working for the Fox Film Corporation. He appeared mostly in small parts, but his first leading role came in Raoul Walsh 's Western The Big Trail , an early widescreen film epic which was a box-office failure. He played leading roles in numerous B movies during the s, most of them also Westerns, without becoming a major name.

From to , serial killer John Wayne Gacy abducted and murdered 33 teenage boys and young men in and around Chicago. When not slaking his thirst for rape and murder, Gacy passed himself off as an upstanding member of his community. To ensnare his victims, Gacy would pose as a police officer, offer to pay for sex or simply invite young men to come over to smoke pot and drink beers at his home in the northwestern Chicago suburbs.
But gone are the lines of gawking bystanders, desperate families of missing young men and carloads of curiosity-seekers who choked the streets in the days before that long-ago Christmas, trying to catch a glimpse of the murder house. The discovery 40 years ago of the dank, muddy mass grave underneath Gacy's yellow brick ranch house at W. Summerdale Ave. He would knock at your door and say vote for my candidate. He buried 29 of his 33 victims in trenches underneath and around his home and dumped four others from bridges once his property could hold no more bodies.
